Description

Built for navigating off the beaten track. The Coghlan’s Map Compass is a baseplate map compass for hikers, scouts, orienteers and bushwalkers who plan routes and plot positions on topographic maps. Its transparent acrylic baseplate sits directly on your map so you can see the details underneath, align with grid lines and take bearings with confidence. Built for bushwalks, overnight hikes, navigation training and orienteering.

A liquid-damped housing keeps the needle stable and quick to settle, while the jewelled needle bearing minimises friction for smooth rotation. The rotating bezel allows precise bearing adjustments, and luminous markers on the needle and housing help in low light. The baseplate is laser-etched with inch, millimetre and 1:25,000 scales for measuring distance directly on standard topographic maps.
